This week the budget announcement came with the news that UK Chancellor, Rebecca Reeves, is increasing the existing air passenger duty on private jet flights from the UK by 50%. These changes come into effect from 1st April 2026.
What does this mean in reality for private jet charter clients? Let’s take a look.
Under the new rate, private jet flights will be subject to Air Passenger Duty tax to the amounts shown in the table below.

Examples as a result of the changes:
- A flight in a light jet such as a Citation CJ2+ from London to Paris, Nice, Geneva, or Ibiza will increase from £26 to £39 per passenger.
- A flight from Manchester to Dubai (3,520 miles) in a super midsize jet such as a Embraer Praetor 600 will increase from £134 to £201 per passenger.

Examples as a result of the changes:
- London to New York (3,500 miles) in a long-range jet such as the Bombardier Global 6000 will increase from £268 to £402 per passenger.
- A flight from London to Los Angeles (5,500 miles) in an aircraft capable of making the journey non-stop will increase from £332 to £498 per passenger.
